The ProVeg Africa Accelerator aims to amplify the food justice movement across Africa by inspiring vegan advocacy and meat reduction efforts in the region by equipping leaders with skills to build new campaigns and manage strong organizations.  The accelerator also aims to uplift marginalized voices by accepting at least 50% women or other marginalized individuals as members.

To facilitate equitable methods and effective results, we’ve used a Participatory Model Co-Design Approach to strategically develop this accelerator.

Strategic Approach

The ProVeg Grants Program uses a Participator Model Co-Design Approach in developing the ProVeg Africa Accelerator. Through a Participatory Model Co-Design Approach, the ProVeg Grants Program recognizes that as a USA and Europe-based program, we cannot truly understand the needs of Africa-based organizations, and thus we invite Africa-based individuals to play an integral role in leading the accelerator, thereby ensuring the accelerator is equitable and effective within the region.

We have invited two of our most impactful current grant recipients from Ghana and Kenya to sit as our Freelance Africa Coordinators and to play a key role in leading the accelerator. Additionally, we have curated an advisory committee of current impactful grantees from several African countries to further guide the accelerator.
